As a born and bred Newcastle girl I am a huge supporter of fashion coming out of this small yet talented town! “Guanabana Designs” is the brainchild of Norwegian designer, Linda Bergskas, who based herself in Newcastle, Australia in 2001 and since then has become a household name in this beachside town.

Bergskas launched Guanabana Designs in 2007, an avant-garde style label with a bold vision of relaxed glamour and high end bohemian flair, the label consistently blurs the line between artistic expression and fashion. Bergskas delivers an effortless fusion of kaleidoscopic colour, prints, beading and adornments. As an owner of a few of Begskas pieces, I know exactly how effortless the designs are, the beautiful and exotic prints make them different to anything else that is available in the local fashion market.
Guanabana hit the catwalks as part of yesterdays Women's Ready to Wear collections at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2010 and it was a truly spectacular event. The spring/summer collection 'Follow the Siren' was inspired by ancient mythology, specifically sirens and neptune, the god of the sea. The models strutted down the runway in exotically printed dresses, billowing blouses and elaborate headdresses featuring fish, a playful touch I thought. I have to say as a designer myself and a local Newcastle girl, Bergskas held her own yesterday and presented a truly spectactular collection.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED
the headdresses (as we all know I love a bit of a quirky touch to keep things from becoming too normal) and I think they really topped off a beautiful collection.
