real or imagined?

I've been looking at fashion, fantasy, transformation and distortion for my final uni collection. I'm really inspired by the mutant body and designers and artist who distort the female ideal and transform it into something new.

James Dawe is an artist I came across while researching, his work is fantastic and inspiring. He works in collage and creates a twisted and distorted reality. I found these pictures from Dawes' website and they are incredible and really relevant to my work. They are a twisted mix of the real, the imagined, fantasy, distortion and transformation all wrapped up into one awe inspiring little package!

a sneak peek into my design life to get the blog started....
This is from a collection I designed for Newcastle Fashion Week 2009, under my label 'marg & jean'. The collection was titled 'Fire & Ice' and was an exploration of beautiful fabrics mixed with metal embellishments and frayed edges.
