UTS DESIGN 2010
On Wednesday night, the 8th of December, the 2010 graduate fourth year class at UTS debuted their collections on the catwalk.
After four years of intense hard work, tears, tantrums, blood, sweat, thai noodles, mexican, and an addiction to coca-cola the time had come to relax, de-stress and show the rest of the world what we had been working on!

and it is officially over...
After four long years of travel, study, tears, tantrums, laughs, disasters, sewing injuries and all round crazy times, the journey has finally come to an end.
I'm still unsure as to how I feel, happy, sad, overwhelmed, excited, nervous? I don't know. It hasn't really sunk in yet that I won't be going back to uni, I won't be seeing all the amazing friends I have made every day and I will no longer be spending countless weekends, days and nights doing uni work!
I'm finally doing my look book and catalogue shoot for my collection next week and I can hardly wait to get some really good images of my final work. I guess it will put everything I have been working for into perspective and hopefully make me really proud of what I have achieved!
In the mean time I have a sample of the collection all together and finished. It is not yet accessorised in the way I want it but you can get the idea of how the collection works!
Enjoy!

Almost at the finish line.
After a whole years worth of work the end is finally in sight. It is a scary yet riveting feeling having your creations finally come to life after so much hard work, happy days, sad days, tears and tantrums, botched dye and print jobs, bad toilles and patterns.
I am so happy to say that I made it through four years of hard work, sweat, tears, laughter and horrible train travel but it will be sad to see it gone.
My graduate collection - 'BIONIC BEAUTY' is almost complete and as it has not turned out exactly how I imagined it would I think in the end I will still be happy with the work I have produced. I am expecting a few more hurdles before the week is out but hopefully it will all come together at the very last minute.
Below is an sneak preview of one of the looks from my collection, the collection is made from heavy cotton denim with printed jersey bodysuits worn under each look to create a skin like feeling.
Enjoy....

Kent Marcus.
A few weeks ago aspiring fashion photographer, Kent Marcus collaborated with my label - Marg & Jean to create some amazing fashion photographs. Above is a sample of the kind of genius work Kent can create and a sneak peek into the shoot!
Just quietly, I have to admit, I am in love. It is a fantastic shot!
Good work to everyone involved!

In my spare time (which lets be honest, I don't actually have a lot of these days) I sew for fun. My sister helped me out with my latest collection for Newcastle Fashion Week's second year and it was a huge success, it would not have come together without her help! I think she learnt a few things and managed to pull out some old skills from high school textiles classes!
Here are a few images from catwalk show number one which was on Wednesday night (15th September) from the wonderful Kent Marcus photography!

workings of a collection...
I haven't posted in a while, which is a shame I think. I have been so ridiculously busy with uni work that I have just not had a chance, I have so much to blog about but there is just honestly no time.
A few things...my collection is coming along ok, not as well as I would've hoped but I am learning to deal with my mistakes and try to learn from them and after all I am still learning, I am by no standard a professional designer and have a long way to go. So, amongst the angst and the tears, I am actually enjoying producing my collection.
I have made a lot of changes along the way and have made more changes in the past week or so but here is an image of my range drawings from a few weeks ago (some designs have changed or are still being designed) but you can get an idea of the direction my collection is going in, it is by no means a finished product yet!

oh, man.
Fannie Schiavoni makes jewellery that is literally to die for. I mean if I could get my hands on this stuff I would and I would devour it and love it like my own child...
Fannie's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection is raw yet structured and just down right gorgeous!
